About me

My name is Arthur Sinodinos and I am proud to serve as Senator for the people of New South Wales.

As your Senator I feel that you should know a little bit about me and the upbringing that shaped me into the person I am today.

I was born and raised in Newcastle, New South Wales, the son of Greek immigrants from the island of Cephalonia in the Ionian Sea. My parents were not wealthy, but they worked hard. We never felt deprived.

My parents taught me to be proud of my Greek heritage and growing up, the local Greek Orthodox Church was our religious and social centre.

Two aspects of Christian teaching have had particular resonance for me. Firstly, to treat others as you would have them treat you and secondly, as St Paul observed, if we are all one then there is no basis for discrimination, be it colour, gender or creed.

My many years working with John Howard as his Senior Economic Adviser and Chief of Staff have led me to believe that politics is not worth a candle unless you are fighting for something.

What am I fighting for? I am fighting for a bigger and more sustainable Australia that will maximise our economic prospects, our living standards and our national security. I also take pride in our culturally diverse society.

We may differ in specific values and aspirations, but we should take pride in the values and achievements of Australia.

I believe in creating a stronger Australia, serving you, my fellow Australians, listening to your concerns and giving you ownership of change.

Politicians are purveyors of hope, I want to create opportunities that offer a better life for this and future generations.

This website allows us to have a conversation about the issues that matter to you. I encourage you to share your ideas by sending me an email. I will respond as quickly as possible.

Best wishes
Arthur
